Bill Would Have Established Ongoing Funding to Help Local Governments Produce Tens of Thousands of Housing Units Affordable to Working Class Families and Those Facing Homelessness
Sacramento – The League of California Cities issued the following statement in response to news that Governor Newsom has vetoed Senate Bill 5 (Beall, McGuire, Portantino). SB 5 would have established a state partnership with cities and counties to provide an ongoing, sustainable and accountable source of funding to build affordable housing and address the housing shortage and homeless crisis.
