Small Business Survey
Survey Results
In summer 2025, the City of Tracy surveyed local businesses to learn what they need to succeed. A separate survey was created for downtown businesses because they have unique needs.
City staff visited more than 300 businesses and received 170 survey responses. The full results are shown in the infographic on this page.

What We Learned
Tracy has a strong group of small, local businesses. About half have been open for more than 10 years, and nearly 3 out of 4 have five or fewer employees.
Businesses shared several areas where they need support:
- Marketing was the top need.
- Businesses also need help with cash flow and finding funding.
- Many want support with digital marketing, online sales, and grant applications.
- Downtown businesses also identified beautification, parking, and signage as important improvements.
- Many survey responses came from veteran-, minority-, or women-owned businesses.
What's Next?
The survey results will help the City create programs and resources that meet the needs of local businesses. The goal is to help businesses reach more customers, find funding, grow, and succeed for years to come.
